If you’ve read Mr. Steak’s 10 Commandments of Steak, you’ll know that grilling frozen burgers breaks commandment #3— Let The Steak Acclimate, which means to let the frozen meat get to room temperature before grilling for an evenly cooked steak.

These burgers were NOT frozen on the grill!

This same rule holds true when grilling burgers. If you want to achieve a char on the outside and a juicy red center on the inside, you should thaw your frozen burgers in the refrigerator 24 hours before, and then set them out on the counter 1-2 hours before grilling, until your burgers get to room temperature. However, If you want to eat your burgers today and haven’t begun to thaw them in the refrigerator first, thaw them out on the counter 2-3 hours before grilling—or more, depending on the burger’s thickness—until they are thawed all the way through. Sometimes burgers will be frozen together in packs of 4 or more. In this case, it will take longer to thaw them to room temperature.

Frozen burgers cooked on a grill will burn on the outside and still be cold on the inside. This is especially true for thicker burgers, and if you’re using Mr. Steak’s high-performance grilling machines, which use infrared technology and reach 1000 degrees. Instead, try Mr. Steak’s chuck burgers or brisket burgers, delivered frozen to your door, and then thaw them, grill them the right way, and enjoy an incredible meal!
